Hiking the Inca Trail: A Bucket List Adventure

Hiking the Inca Trail is a top bucket list experience for avid, active adventure travelers. This iconic trek spans four to five days along the Classic Inca Trail, offering breathtaking views and an immersive historical journey. Along the way, hikers encounter ancient Inca ruins, winding trails, and well-preserved stone steps. The grand finale of this unforgettable experience is reaching the Sun Gate, where the first glimpse of the awe-inspiring Machu Picchu awaits.

After months of dedicated training and preparation, we were eagerly anticipating our departure. Our journey was set to begin with a Delta Airlines flight to Atlanta, followed by connections to Lima and Cusco via LATAM Airlines. However, fate had other plans—our flight was abruptly canceled due to the largest global tech outage in history.

While this unexpected setback put our adventure on hold, we remain hopeful that we will get another chance to embark on this incredible journey. In the meantime, I wanted to document our trip details, from training to planning, so that when the opportunity arises again, we’ll be ready to experience the magic of the Inca Trail.
