Ham and Cheese Breakfast Pastry

Easy breakfast pastry with ham and cheese

Ingredients
  

For the Spices Blend

  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon dried thyme
  • 2 tsp course ground dried pepper
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder

For the Pastries

  • one 17.3 ounce package frozen puff pastry (defrost according to directions on box)
  • 1/2 lb thin sliced cheese
  • 1/2 lb thin sliced cheese
  • 1 egg beaten with 1 Tablespoon of water, makes egg wash
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt

Instructions
 

  • mix spices and set aside
  • preheat oven to 400 degrees F
  • line baking sheet with parchment paper
  • defrost pastry, unfold pastry sheets on lightly floured surface. Cut each sheet into 4 squares
  • arrange sliced ham and cheese on the centers of the pastry squares
  • sprinkle spices over each one
  • fold two opposite corners over each square over ham and cheese to make a pouch
  • place pastries on baking sheet
  • brush each pastry with the egg wash
  • sprinkle more spices on top and sprinkle salt over pastries
  • bake 12-14 minutes, until pastries are golden brown
