Ham and Cheese Breakfast Pastry
Easy breakfast pastry with ham and cheese
Ingredients
For the Spices Blend
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 tablespoon dried thyme
- 2 tsp course ground dried pepper
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
For the Pastries
- one 17.3 ounce package frozen puff pastry (defrost according to directions on box)
- 1/2 lb thin sliced cheese
- 1/2 lb thin sliced cheese
- 1 egg beaten with 1 Tablespoon of water, makes egg wash
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
Instructions
- mix spices and set aside
- preheat oven to 400 degrees F
- line baking sheet with parchment paper
- defrost pastry, unfold pastry sheets on lightly floured surface. Cut each sheet into 4 squares
- arrange sliced ham and cheese on the centers of the pastry squares
- sprinkle spices over each one
- fold two opposite corners over each square over ham and cheese to make a pouch
- place pastries on baking sheet
- brush each pastry with the egg wash
- sprinkle more spices on top and sprinkle salt over pastries
- bake 12-14 minutes, until pastries are golden brown
