A Flower I Want to Remember

This summer I bought a beautiful hanging flower arrangement already planted and ready to enjoy. It was filled with colorful flowers, but as the summer went on, one of the quieter plants in the arrangement became one of my favorites.

Mezoo Trailing Red, also commonly called a variegated baby sun rose.

It has soft green succulent leaves edged in creamy white and tiny deep pink flowers that peek out among the foliage. As it grew, it began cascading over the side of the container, adding beautiful texture to the entire arrangement.

I had never paid much attention to this plant before, but now it’s one I want to remember. Its succulent foliage handles heat and periods of dryness well, making it especially nice for summer containers and hanging baskets.

What I love most is how it complements the brighter flowers without competing with them. The variegated foliage adds interest on its own, and the tiny pink blooms are almost a little surprise when you notice them.

I’m recording it here for a very simple reason: next summer, I want to look for Mezoo Trailing Red or variegated baby sun rose again.

Sometimes that’s reason enough to write something down a beautiful little discovery you don’t want to forget.
