Heinzels Wintermärchen Market, Cologne, Germany

I was a little worried that Heinzels Wintermärchen might already be closed. Many Christmas markets across Germany shut down on December 24 or 25, and we were visiting Cologne just after Christmas. To our surprise, this market was still open and not just open, but completely packed.
About Heinzels Wintermarchen
Set in the heart of Cologne, Heinzels Wintermärchen felt like stepping into a fairytale village. The beautifully decorated entrance glowed against the evening sky and led into a lively scene filled with food stalls, festive lights, and constant movement. The ice rink was open and busy, surrounded by spectators bundled up with warm drinks, watching skaters glide by.
There were all sorts of food stalls offering classic German winter favorites, and the atmosphere felt energetic and celebratory rather than winding down. It was clear that Cologne wasn’t quite ready to say goodbye to the holiday season.

If you’re traveling in Germany after Christmas and worried you’ve missed the Christmas markets, Heinzels Wintermärchen is a great reminder that some of the best holiday magic continues well beyond December 25. Click Here to visit Heinzels Wintermarchen Website for more details.
