Christmas Market and Dinner at Munich airport

Christmas Market and Dinner at Munich airport

As we landed at the Munich airport we were expecting a long layover. In anticipation of exhaustion and tired travelers I reserved a Hilton Hotel room right at the airport. We had a 6 hour layover and we thought it would be a good spot to rest up. Once we settled in, we decided to go look for something to eat. It was a very cold December night, and we were delighted by what was right outside our airport accommodations a German Christmas Market. Exploring the Christmas Market and dinner at Munich Airport was a mini German vacation.

Munich Airport German Christmas Market

Some of the traditional items we experienced included mulled wine and German treats. There were over 40 stalls featuring German handicrafts and culinary items. There was ice skating, ice sculptures, wreath making events, and Santa Clause. Luckily, we had heavy coats because the market was located outside and it was very cold.

Dinner at the Munich Airport

We had dinner at Airbrau. This German Pub did not disappoint. This was the worlds first airport brewery. It has been serving travelers authentic Bavarian dishes and fresh beer since 1999

Our 6 hour layover zipped by and we didn’t spend much time in our room other then freshening up and collecting our bags. However, it was nice having it and I would probably reserve it again.

We hadn’t realized flights had been canceled all over Europe prior to our arrival. We headed to security to check our bags and check in for our flight on to Venice. The line was long with travelers trying to rebook on different flights. We barely caught our flight, and off we went to Venice to continue our Christmas adventure.
