Ristorante Veneziano Randazzo, Sicily
We had the pleasure of dining at Ristorante Veneziano in Randazzo on a Sunday afternoon. Ristorante Veneziano was completely full, clearly a favorite among locals, so I definitely recommend making a reservation ahead of time.
Recognized by the Michelin Guide, Ristorante Veneziano is a family run gem known for its refined Sicilian cuisine and warm hospitality. Founded by Alfio Veneziano, this long standing family restaurant began decades ago as a small neighborhood spot where workers could stop for a meal. Over the years, Alfio’s five children carried on his legacy. They expanded the space while keeping the same warm hospitality and focus on traditional Sicilian flavors. Today, the restaurant remains family run. It is known throughout the Etna and Nebrodi region for its refined yet heartfelt cuisine.
Lunch
For our meal, we started with Ravioli ripieni di speck e patate al pistacchio. Fresh pasta filled with speck and potatoes, finished in a creamy pistachio sauce. It was absolutely delicious, rich and nutty, and beautifully Sicilian.
For the main courses, we tried:
- Spezzatino di bue cotto a bassa temperatura. A slow cooked beef stew served with Jerusalem artichoke chips and roasted potatoes comforting and full of depth.
- Tagliata di manzo con misticanza e scaglie di grana. Perfectly grilled beef sliced thin and topped with fresh greens and shaved Parmigiano. Simple yet perfectly executed.
We paired our meal with the house Etna Rosso. A red wine made from grapes grown on the volcanic slopes surrounding Randazzo. It was an excellent choice. Smooth, earthy, and beautifully balanced, this wine complemented both the pasta and the meats perfectly.
The service was excellent. It was friendly, professional, and attentive without feeling rushed. Moreover, the warm, relaxed setting made it a memorable experience.
Set in the medieval town of Randazzo, on the north slope of Mount Etna, Ristorante Veneziano is the kind of place that makes you feel like part of the local rhythm of Sicilian life. Between the family history, the generous portions, and the welcoming atmosphere, it’s easy to see why this restaurant has been beloved for generations. I highly recommend dining at Ristorante Veneziano. I have already recommended it to others visiting Randazzo.
