Vlorë’s Lungomare

After exploring Albania’s historic towns, arriving in Vlorë felt like stepping into a completely different side of the country.

Instead of cobblestone streets and centuries old stone buildings, we found palm lined sidewalks, turquoise water. There were lively cafés, and one of the most enjoyable waterfront walks of our trip.

The Lungamore

The Lungomare is Vlorë’s vibrant seaside promenade and the heart of the city’s waterfront. It’s a favorite place for both locals and visitors to walk, bike, relax at beach clubs, enjoy fresh seafood, or simply watch the waves roll in. Beautiful at any time of day, the promenade offers sweeping views of the sea and the surrounding mountains.

How long is the Lungamore

Stretching approximately 2.4 miles along the Bay of Vlorë, it’s a favorite place for both locals and visitors to walk.

One of my favorite parts of the walk was seeing how the scenery changed from one section to the next. Palm trees lined the boulevard, colorful beach clubs overlooked the sea, small fishing boats bobbed in the water, and the mountains across the bay created a beautiful backdrop.

Sometimes the best travel memories aren’t built around a famous landmark. They’re created by slowing down, wandering without a schedule, and taking in the atmosphere of a place. Walking Vlorë’s Lungomare was one of those moments for us, and it’s an experience I’d happily recommend to anyone visiting Albania’s coast.
