Growing Cut Flowers from Seed and Dahlia Tubers

This season, I dedicated my garden to growing cut flowers from seed, experimenting with different varieties to create stunning arrangements. Sourcing my seeds from Johnny’s Selected Seeds, I explored a mix of vibrant blooms and delicate fillers, taking careful notes to refine my flower planning for next year. I was very happy with all of the seeds I purchased
Pots Filled with Texture and Variety
Beyond the garden beds, I continued growing cut flowers from seed. I experimented with a variety of cut flowers and filler plants in pots. These included:
- Snapdragons – Tall, elegant, and perfect for adding height to arrangements.
- Cosmos – Airy and whimsical, bringing a delicate touch.
- Celosia – Unique, textural blooms that stood out in every bouquet.
- Statice & Strawflowers – Ideal for fresh and dried arrangements.
Lessons Learned & Plans for Next Year
Growing cut flowers from seed requires patience, but the reward is unmatched. I learned which varieties performed best in my space and noted improvements for next season—better spacing for airflow, experimenting with succession planting, and adding more filler flowers to balance bouquets.
As I look ahead to next year, I will continue growing cut flowers from seed. I’m excited to expand my selection and fine-tune my garden for even more abundant harvests.
