A Peaceful Hike at Lewis Lake in Wyoming’s Snowy Range

A Peaceful Hike at Lewis Lake in Wyoming’s Snowy Range
Lewis Lake

We spent a day hiking in Wyoming’s Snowy Range, and it honestly couldn’t have been more perfect. The adventure started at the Lewis Lake Trailhead. We hiked about 3 miles round trip. There appears to be a loop that was just under 3 miles. I would like to try this next time we go. It was the kind of trail that makes you pause constantly — not because it’s hard, but because the scenery keeps surprising you.

Wildflowers, Lakes, and Wide-Open Views

One of the first things we noticed was how quiet and uncrowded it felt, which made it really peaceful. The trail winds through wildflowers, alpine meadows, and rocky hillsides with snow still clinging to the higher peaks. There were so many little lakes tucked into the landscape — clear and calm, like something out of a postcard.

The views were big and open, and even though it wasn’t a tough hike, it felt like a real adventure. We took our time, stopping often to take pictures and just enjoy how beautiful and calm it was.

A Picnic With a Lake View

After we finished our hike, we had a picnic near the parking lot where there’s a picnic table with an amazing view of Lewis Lake. It was such a great spot to sit, eat, and take in the scenery one more time before heading out. Honestly, I could have stayed there all afternoon.

A Great Place to Camp, Too

If you’re thinking of spending more than a day in the area, there’s a campground nearby called Sugarloaf Campground that looked really nice. It’s close to the trailhead and surrounded by lakes and forest — perfect for a weekend of hiking and relaxing.

Final Thoughts

This trail was a highlight of our trip. It’s not too long or crowded, but the scenery is incredible. If you’re ever in Snowy Range and want a peaceful hike with lake views, wildflowers, and mountain air, Lewis Lake in the Snowy Range is definitely worth the stop. We’ll be back!
