Christmas in Montepulciano

Christmas in Montepulciano

We spent three nights in Montepulciano at Christmas. It was amazing waking up in our Tuscan farmhouse on Christmas morning. Here are the Christmas festivities, accommodations, experiences and food we ejoyed while visiting Montepulciano

Christmas Festivities

Nativity Scenes in Churches Presepe are found in shops, squares and churches. Many churches will have a sign saying Presepe. Once you go into this special room in the church you will find enormous nativity scenes.

3 Day Itinerary

Day One

After spending the day exploring Siena, we finally arrived at our Tuscan villa in the late afternoon. Although finding our farmhouse took some effort, we felt relieved once we settled in. Soon after, we took a short break before heading to Montepulciano, where we looked forward to experiencing the festive Christmas market. As we strolled through the charming streets, we also took the opportunity to visit several wine cellars. Reservations are highly recommended, it’s important to plan ahead to secure a spot. Later in the evening, we made our way to Osteria Del Borgo for dinner. Not only was the meal outstanding, but the wine also impressed us so much that we decided to join their Perbaco Wine Experience club right away.

Day 2

We enjoyed a cooking class at our farmhouse. The class was arranged by the owner of the farmhouse and was a memorable experience. The cooking class took most of the day. After it was finished around 4:00 we headed back into Montepulciano to experience more of the Christmas Market and visit more wine cellars and have dinner.

There was a special Christmas event at the castle at the edge of town and Santa was there artificial falling snow and all. Some of the wine cellars we visited included Cantina Della Taloosa, De Ricci Cantine, and Contucci
